This is its own MHA — separate from Washington DC Metro Area, Quantico/Woodbridge, or any of the larger NCR housing markets. Pax River BAH ranks 34th highest among Navy installations: moderate by East Coast standards, reflecting the area's mid-range cost of living relative to NoVA or DC.

There is no rail or Metro service to Pax River — everyone drives. The trade-off is real: getting to DC, Baltimore, or Annapolis is a 1-1.5 hour drive minimum, and there are no commuter alternatives.

Pax River is geographically isolated by NCR standards — the Pentagon is 65 miles away, Annapolis is 60 miles, and Baltimore is 90 miles.
